Eyewitnesses of the accident and
God’s Divine interventions!
1. Marko George: On 27 March 1992, Marko (a friend of Barend) was standing across the corner of the accident scene. He was looking at Barend and the following freight truck as it was coming towards him. He had a clear close visual display of this whole horrific crushing scenery!
2. Around 2 pm, Mrs. Gezelda Steenkamp was engrossed in a meeting at her butcher shop, situated opposite the accident site in Porterville, South Africa. A member of her staff witnessed the freight truck colliding with a man on his bicycle and then driving over him. Quickly alerted by her staff, Mrs. Steenkamp hurried across the street to get a closer look at Barend.
3. Mrs. Lottie van der Merwe happened to stand across the street of the accident spot, in front of her shop while talking to someone when she noticed Barend being cut short by a turning freight truck. She witnessed how the double gigantic wheels crushed Barend’s body, she ran closer to have a look…
4. Theater nurse, Corine de Beer encountered Barend Liebenberg four hours post-accident at Paarl Medi-Clinic’s emergency theater on March 27, 1992. Confronted with what seemed like an insurmountable challenge for survival, she bore witness to the transcendent power of Jesus Christ, which defied both medical and natural laws.
5. ICU nurse Sonia Strumpfer encountered Barend approximately 10 hours post-accident, shortly after midnight. Despite doctors’ grim prognoses, Sonia fearlessly interceded for the young man, invoking the spiritual arsenal outlined in Ephesians 6 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-6. Three decades later, she “recalls this harrowing event” in a touching video, vividly recounting the traumatic encounter.
